In short: nothing on this website is legal advice, reading it does not make you a client of Martin Adams APC, and you should not send us confidential information until we have agreed in writing to represent you.
1. This website is not legal advice
Everything published here — the practice area descriptions, the attorney profiles, the Insights posts, and the firm news — is general information about the law and about this firm. It is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer who knows the facts of your situation.
Legal outcomes turn on particular facts, on the jurisdiction, and on deadlines that are often short and unforgiving. Do not act, or decline to act, on the basis of anything you read here. Consult a lawyer about your own matter.
2. No attorney-client relationship
Visiting this website, reading it, or sending a message through the contact form does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Martin Adams APC or any of its attorneys.
That relationship begins only when the firm and the client have signed a written engagement agreement, and only after the firm has completed a conflicts check and agreed to take the matter on. Until then, the firm owes you no duty to act, to advise, or to protect a deadline in your matter. The firm remains free to decline any inquiry for any reason.
3. Do not send confidential information
Please do not send us confidential or sensitive material through this website or by unsolicited email. Because no attorney-client relationship exists yet, a message you send before we are engaged is not protected by the attorney-client privilege, and the firm may already represent — or may later come to represent — someone whose interests are adverse to yours in the same matter. Unsolicited information will not be treated as confidential and may not prevent the firm from representing another party.
Describe your matter in general terms only. Once we have run a conflicts check and agreed to speak with you, we will tell you how to send us the details safely.
4. Attorney advertising
Portions of this website may be considered attorney advertising or a communication concerning the availability of legal services under the rules of some jurisdictions. The firm intends this website to comply with the California Rules of Professional Conduct governing communications about legal services. See Cal. Rules of Prof’l Conduct rr. 7.1–7.3; Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 6157–6159.2.
Nothing on this site is a promise, guarantee, or warranty about the outcome of any matter. This website has not been approved by the Supreme Court of California or the State Bar of California.
5. Prior results
Any description of past matters, engagements, or outcomes is provided to show the kind of work the firm does. Prior results depend on the specific facts and law of each matter and do not guarantee or predict a similar outcome in any future matter, including yours.
6. Where our attorneys are admitted
Martin Adams APC is a California professional corporation. Its attorneys are licensed to practice in the jurisdictions listed on their individual profiles, and each attorney practices only where they are admitted or otherwise authorized to appear.
This website is directed to people and public agencies in jurisdictions where the firm’s attorneys are licensed. It is not an offer to represent anyone in a jurisdiction where doing so would be unauthorized, and the firm does not seek to practice law in any such jurisdiction.
7. Content changes; the law changes faster
Insights posts and other commentary reflect the law as the author understood it on the date of publication. Statutes are amended, regulations are revised, and decisions are issued, depublished, or reversed. We do not undertake to update anything published here, and material on this site may be out of date by the time you read it.
8. Third-party links and materials
This website links to material published by courts, legislative bodies, agencies, and other outside sources. Those links are provided for convenience. The firm does not control that material, does not endorse it, and is not responsible for its accuracy, its availability, or the privacy practices of the sites that host it.
9. No warranty; limitation of liability
This website and its contents are provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Martin Adams APC and its attorneys and staff are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this website or anything on it.
10. Governing law
This website is published from California, and these notices are governed by California law, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
11. Questions
